Health Insurance Landscape for Mylance Members

We'd like to provide Mylance community members the right information on
available healthcare options, and also give you the chance to connect with a
professional health advisor to navigate those options

What is it?
Cobra is the extension of your old employers insurance (without their contribution to the premium). This coverage is typically strong but expensive.
Public coverage is Government sponsored insurance. It normally has higher deductibles and potentially higher premiums, but depends on your income projection.
Private plans are based on your health status. So if your income is projected to be above the poverty line, a private plan can be a great option. Your costs will depend on the health and medical history of the applicant.
Taking your spouse's coverage is usually a good idea for the employee but not always for the spouse or family member. If you are healthy, consider an individual plan if you'd like to save money and are OK with separate coverages.
Who should Choose this option?
Cobra is usually the most expensive of your options. To look into this further, contact COBRA at 1-877-262-7241. Or use our concierge to research a more inexpensive option.
If your income is below the poverty line then might make the most sense!

Income Limit:
1 per: 45k/yr
2 people: 65k/yr
3 people: 75k/yr
4 people: 90k/yr
Etc.
If your income is above the threshold (see table at left) and you have no major medical pre-existing conditions, you could qualify for a reduction in premiums/deductible and still have access to major PPO plans!
If being on the same coverage is important, then most definitely. If you want to try to reduce the premiums you pay monthly and are OK with separate plans, then you should consider researching and individual plan for yourself.
